Child Safety Standards

Our commitment to protecting children from abuse and exploitation on Howzit UK.

Our Commitment

Howzit UK is a community app for South Africans living in the UK. We are fully committed to protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and to maintaining a safe environment for all users.

Minimum Age Requirement

Howzit UK is intended exclusively for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly allow users under the age of 18 to create accounts. If you believe a user may be under 18, please report them immediately using our in-app reporting feature.

Zero Tolerance Policy

We have a strict zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and any content that sexualises minors. Any such content discovered on our platform will be:

  • Immediately removed
  • Reported to the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) and, where applicable, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline, as required by law
  • Referred to relevant UK and international law enforcement authorities

The responsible user will be permanently banned from Howzit UK.

How to Report Concerns

If you encounter a user or content that you believe poses a child safety risk, please report it immediately:

In-App Reporting: Open the user's profile, tap "Report this user", and select the reason "Appears to be under 18" or "Inappropriate content or photos."

By Email: Send a detailed report to safety@howzituk.app including as much information as possible (username, screenshots, description of concern).

How We Handle Reports

All child safety reports are treated with the highest priority:

  1. Reports are reviewed by our team as soon as possible, targeting within 24 hours
  2. If a report is substantiated, the reported account is suspended immediately pending investigation
  3. Confirmed violations result in permanent removal of the account and referral to authorities
  4. We cooperate fully with all law enforcement investigations

Howzit UK complies with all applicable UK legislation, including the Online Safety Act 2023. We report known or suspected CSAM to:
